"Just not fair"

About: Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre

After being referred by my doctor, for hip problems and pain, I was given a consultation at Barlborough NHS Centre, Chesterfield on December 10th December 2019.

At this consultation the consultant said my hip was not quite bad enough for replacement, and arranged for a Steroid injection for the pain,

On February 11th 2020, I had the injection and told it should last about 6 months.

I was given a follow up appointment to assess the results on April 3rd at 15.50 pm.

The injection lasted just over a week, I saw my GP, as the pain was as bad as before.

He recommended taking the strong painkillers until my follow up appointment, and see if Barlborough NHS Centre could the do the hip replacement, as all the other options had failed.

Unfortunatley just before my appointment on April 3rd, I received a letter that due to Coronavirus, my appointment was cancelled until further notice. I also received two more letters updating me that they had been commandeered by the NHS for extra capacity during the pandemic.

I read this to mean it was being used for COVID patience.

As my hip was getting worse, the pain and the fact that walking was almost impossible, and then I find out that it is being used to treat hip, knees etc on nhs from local area, and I cannot now be treated there.

I have since managed to get another X-ray done, which shows that my right hip is totally shot, bone on bone, with bone cysts.

If my February appointment hadn’t been cancelled, I feel this would have been picked up and my hip done soon after. Instead I am in very bad pain, my quality of life is vastly affected.

All due to some weird NHS operating way.

Surely my case should have been completed, before others started.

I have seen some of your reviews and one contacted you in May, and was all sorted by July.

It just doesn’t seem fair.
