"Covid19 policy?"

About: Northwick Park Hospital

I spent 5 night in Dickens Ward, in a bay with 6 other elderly women (I am 98) I'd had a fall and had a slight fracture to my pelvis. Staff on the ward were extremely busy but nice.

My observation really is about the hospital's protocol when it comes to admitting new patients on wards.

On arrival at hospital new patients have a Covid test, but if not presenting any symptoms they are allowed onto wards without waiting for test results. A woman was admitted onto my ward and a few hours later, her test results came back positive! She was moved out and the ward closed but I had to stay extra days in hospital as my pelvic xray was then delayed. I was told the hospital operates a traffic light system and new prospective patients are allowed onto wards without waiting for test results. This really worries me and put my bay of elderly frail women at risk. I was very upset and although a doctor told me this would be "looked into" it didn't help my confidence in this system. Before I left the hospital, my daughter asked for a Covid test for me but was told the hospital did not do this as it was not policy and there could be false negatives. I understood the reasoning behind this. However the next day, I was given a test but this meant another night in hospital as I had to wait for my test results before my release.

I don't understand why I had to wait for my result (I had been told I would be in quarantine for 2 weeks anyway) but the patient admitted on to my ward did not have to wait and we were all put at risk from infection.
