"The staff are respectful"

About: Rampton Hospital / National High Secure Deaf Service

(as a service user),

I have been here for nearly 6 years.

I find the staff to be approachable and diligent when performing tasks. This sort of approach has made me settle quickly and in a good frame of mind.

Rampton has got an excellent healthcare centre which caters for all of our needs, dentist, doctors, podiatrist, physiotherapist.

Improving the service for deaf patients would be to utilise the video conferencing proposal. The staff are respectful and understand that our language is different to theirs and they are receiving the training necessary to bridge that gap.

Thank you for your kind posting, it is pleasing to hear your positive experiences at Rampton Hospital. I know your Ward Manager and your team are working hard to improve the service for deaf patients, especially the use of technology.

I understand that Grampian are the pilot ward for virtual visits, and we are very keen to build upon our options to support you all with your communication needs, which includes the potential for video conferencing.

It has really brightened my day reading your post, we are always pleased to hear ideas about how we can further improve our services for our patients 😊

Following on from my last response. It is pleasing that purple visits is now up and running, with great feedback from both our patient and carer community. There is further work in the pipeline to continue to improve technology on the ward to enhance communication, this will be an ongoing process and shaped by the patient community. So your voice continues to be important. Thank you for taking the time to post your views, it is always appreciated.
