"A&E with my toddler for a head laceration"

About: Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a parent/guardian),

My 2 year old daughter tripped and hit her head on a metal gate resulting in a deep cut to her forehead. Took her to A & E. Was seen by a nurse practitioner after a short wait. Who took us along to a trolley to be seen by a doctor. They were both amazing with her, kept her occupied and totally at ease, which is quite impressive due to her age. They glued the cut and applied paper stiches all while playing with her.   Not once did it show how busy they were or that my daughter had anything other than their full attention. A&E staff never get the credit they are due and I wanted to make sure their care and compassion for my daughter was recognized. I wish I could remember their names but I can't.

Dear both mum and a nurse

I was sorry to hear that your little girl injured herself, this must have been a frightening experience for all involved. I hope that she is now on the mend.

Having said that I am also pleased to hear that our ED staff treated you and your daughter with such kindness and professionalism.

I will ensure that your feedback is shared with them.

Kind regards

Dr Chris McKenna
