I have a number of unseen disabilities which exempts me from wearing a face covering.
During September 2020 I spilled some hot tea on my leg, it was bad enough for me to visit the local A&E. I arrived at A&E at approx 9.30am.
I was asked by the receptionist why I wasn’t wearing a face covering.
I informed them that I was exempt owing to my disabilities, I had on a sunflower lanyard given to me by a lady working in Morrison’s.
The receptionist then asked if I had a letter or card proving my exemption. I stated that I didn’t as it wasn’t *required. The receptionist then condescendingly made a motion that I should place my scarf over my mouth and nose suggesting I was lying!
I was in too much pain from the burn on my leg and a bit shocked that I actually complied!
When I returned home after being seen at A&E, I spoke to my partner about what happened, who went ballistic and said that I had been discriminated against because of my disabilities! Luckily for the receptionist my partner was not with me at the time otherwise the receptionist would have very much regretted their stupid actions!
The ignorant receptionist left me feeling angry, confused and feeling helpless.

What are Dorset County hospital doing to educate their staff to not discriminate against people with disabilities? Whatever they are doing currently, if anything, I don't think it's currently working!
