I went to Harlow Princess Alexandra Hospitals Early Pregnancy Unit at just over 12 weeks pregnant, due to a gushing amount of red bleeding only to be turned away and told to go back to work, I then went back to work and the bleeding had gotten worse, I had to scream down the phone for them to finally say they would see me and check my cervix. When I got there they confirmed I was bleeding from the cervix and it was bright red fresh blood- which anyone who knows anything about pregnancy knows this is a serious sign of concern.
I was refused a scan to check on the baby or to try and locate where the bleeding had come from, a swab was then taken and it was claimed that either I’m miscarrying or the bleeding will just stop and that I would be contacted if any infection was found immediately.
I then, not feeling safe for myself or my baby, took myself to another hospital, who did a swab straight away and booked me in for the next working day for a Scan. The swab came back within less than a week and confirmed I had an infection, the scan also confirmed where the bleeding had come from, which was from a subchorionic hematoma.
For a 21 year old girl, First pregnancy, and having to attend every appointment alone due to COVID19 I’m absolutely disgusted the way I was treated and refused examinations at Harlow Hospital.
