Relatively minor bite by a cat to finger which exposed interior tissue and did not stop bleeding for an hour or more. 111 advised to visit Boston accident and emergency where I was seen very fast. However, I felt belittled by the nurse who repeatedly said I had no need to really be there and the advice from 111 was wrong I just “need to stick a plaster on it and it’ll be fine.” Then I had to ask for said plaster and have it thrown on.
36 hours later the wound was still in pain and swelling. Discharge was also coming from the wound indicating infection. I went to Skegness urgent care clinic where the wound was cleaned, dressed with steri-strips and other bandages, tetanus injection given alongside a course of antibiotics to fight the infection.
