"Two admissions to Ward 33"

About: Adamson Hospital / Minor Injuries Unit Victoria Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I was admitted to hospital following a fall, when I broke bones in my right arm  and sustained a large haematoma  on my left leg. I had surgery to put plates and screws in my arm and the surgeon was pleased with the x-ray results. My leg was checked and seemed ok. I was discharged from hospital having spent 3 days on  ward 33.

Unfortunately the haematoma started to cause more discomfort and following treatment, my GP sent me back to hospital, again ward 33,  as an infection was in the wound. I had surgery on the wound and had a vacuum dressing. During the 9 days I was there, and the previous time, I couldn't have asked for better care and attention. I had many blood tests, antibiotic drips and medication.

The ward on both occasions was busy sometimes short of staff but I had no cause to complain about anything. I was well looked after and felt that my care mattered. On a couple of occasions I was really down but there was somebody there to spend a little time to talk to me and make sure I rallied.

I am taking the time to tell my story because all credit is due the those who looked after me, reassured me and helped me get better. I am indebted to all of you.

Thank you.

Dear piglet51,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on care opinion. I'm sorry to hear that you had to be admitted to ward 33 on two separate occasions.

We are delighted to hear that you were pleased with your care and treatment and felt well looked after. It is also great to know that you felt reassured and that your care mattered.

It is good to hear that although you felt that the ward was busy, staff were able to take time to comfort you.

This feedback is important and appreciated by the whole team. I hope you are recovering well, and many thanks for such lovely feedback.

Kind Regards

Andrea
