"poor service"

About: Northwick Park Hospital

I was violently attacked and robbed by two unknown men and I was subsequently taken to Northwick park hospital by two police officers who dealt with the incident.

I struck by the unprofessional attitude of the staff who booked me in.

One gentleman was distracted by a colleague while I was waiting to be told where to go to wait to be seen, which I found disrespectful, given the pain and shock I was feeling after being violently attacked an hour earlier.

I was also put off by the shortage of seats for patients and so I had to walk around, straining my damaged eye to find a place to sit.

When I was called in to be diagnosed, I was asked routine questions, and subsequently told to go into a nearby ward.

When I arrived, the receptionist seemed to be confused as why I had walked in and when I gave her my name, she then told me to sit down and she'll keep checking the screen and that was it.

I sat down with my eyes shut, feeling really low and disillusioned.

After about 25 minutes, I was causally asked if I am waiting for something by an unknown staff member?

She subsequently told me that I will be seen after 15 minutes.

I was eventually taken for a brain scan and after it was over I was once again, causally told to go into the waiting area.

I had to ask where to go because the person wrongly assumed I knew where it was.

During my diagnosis, I was asked if I am in any pain?

I was then told that I would be given paracetamol but none was given.

During my 5 hour admittance I asked once if I would like something to eat or drink and I asked for a glass of water but nothing was given to me.

I had dried up blood on my upper lip and yet during the diagnosis

no mention was made about that and my damaged right eye and split lip were treated as if they weren't serious at all.

By the time I finally left to make my way home, I felt thirsty, hungry, tired, hurt from the injuries that were sustained during the attack and yet no hospital staff bothered to offer me a glass of water let alone something for the subsequent pain in my left eye socket.

I left North-wick park hospital feeling let down, and very disillusioned and I think that it is necessary to add that it isn't the 1st time I have not received the treatment I believe I needed.

One time I was left without food to eat even though I had been asked to chose what I wanted earlier.

I left the said hospital regretting that I had even been admitted

and I don't yet seen any evidence to suggest that much needed lessons are being learnt by some staff members.

I wouldn't recommend North wick park hospital to any person in need of treatment because it's almost certain that they will come away feeling let down due to the poor level of service in 2020.

Shame.

I am so sorry to read of your experience, both of the attack and your care when you visited our Trust. I was particularly saddened to read that you felt let down. This is certainly not what we expect of our staff and would hope that all of our patients are treated with compassion and dignity.

I have shared your comments with the team, who I am certain will be disappointed to receive them.

Should you wish for us to investigate exactly what happened with your care, then please do contact the Patient Relations team via email at LNWH-tr.patientrelations@nhs.net

Best wishes,

Anjali Patel
