"Inadequate care provision"

About: Whiston Hospital

My mother has been suffering from acute limb and lower back pain for many years and was admitted to A&E 2 nights previous to Ward 2D with suspected Guillain-Barre Syndrome, which can be fatal. She asked a nurse to be moved from her bed to her chair to due severe pain, but was blatantly ignored and told “no, its the middle of the night” and so was left to lie in pain for the remainder of the nightSurely patient care is not dependent ob the time of day!?! Having just spoken to my mother she now wants to sign herself out whilst having a possibly fatal condition.

I will making a formal complaint.

We are sorry to hear about your mother's experience of care on ward 2D. We take patient and family feedback very seriously and apologise that your mother's care has not been to the high standard that we would expect. Please do not hesitate to contact the PALS department on 0151 420 1376 so that we can discuss this further with you.
