In May this year something unexpectedly went pop inside. I was unaware of what was happening as some sort of shock had set in. 7 days later I came round in intensive care with lots of post surgical wounds. When eventually discharged initially community nurses visited at home, but as soon as I was able, I was discharged to the care of Newport health centre for wound management. At first 5 days a week, then 3 etc, eventually, on 31st October I was fully healed.
I have thanked the emergency services, staff in intensive care and all nurses and doctors involved with my stay in St Marys elsewhere.
As far as Newport Heath centre is concerned I found the whole experience to be faultless. Receptionists were good with making appointments and in the 40 or 50 visits (more than in my entire previous 69 years), the longest I had to wait was 15 minutes. The staff were always charming and efficient and, although I didn't see my G.P. ,I knew from the occasional telephone call that a careful eye was being kept on my recovery.
I most certainly did not want to have this experience, but have it I did. The care, from the very start to the day when I finally healed has been exemplary.
I will always remain extraordinarily grateful to all.
"Fantastic service over several months"
