I was getting treated at A&E today, got seen extremely quickly thank you. Staff very friendly etc.

However I couldn't help notice lack of hygiene..... I saw a staff member blow their nose, then go on a computer at the desk, without washing hands. 

Then I got seen by a staff member who was taking down the mask and touching their nostrils a couple of times. I couldn't believe what I was seeing especially in these times with Covid, also no washing his hands after touching the nostrils. 😱😱

Dear Roman 2020, thankyou for taking the time to use Care Opinion. I am really disappointed to hear that this practise happened in our Emergency Dept. I am unsure as to why this would happen as we have always had a very good compliance when Hand Hygiene Audits are carried out in the Dept (these are carried out when the staff are unaware). Please be reassured that this is not our normal practise and we take infection control measures very seriously. This has been reflected recently with no evidence of any infections illnesses transmitted to patients from within our Department. I would be more than happy to discuss further if you wish to contact me. In the meantime, I will remind ALL Staff that our normal good practises need to be reinforced.
