Waiting for my knee operations which was due approximately August. Wondered if there was a plan when things would catch up because of these trying times especially for NHS. Thank you

I am very sorry for the delay you are experiencing. We fully understand that this level of delay will be having a serious impact on your quality of life. It is a real concern for us. We have increased the level of elective operating significantly since the height of the initial Covid pandemic. However, there is now an increased backlog of procedures to deal with and we still face some challenges as a result of Covid - which may continue for a considerable time. This includes the challenge of managing Covid related pathways, working with PPE and managing staff absence through isolation etc.

Although operating has increased, we have to prioritise the most clinically urgent cases. We will update patients on what they can expect but don't want to build up false hope that there will be a quick resolution. As I am say, we are very sorry that you are having to live with painful symptoms and we will do all we can to make progress.
