I have had many stays in Lincoln hospital over the years, but this recent stay had really surprised me - not in a good way!
The ward I was on looked bad didn't operate very well and seemed to have been left behind in comparison to other wards. A few points I feel were particularly poor:1. My bed light didn't work (I had a torch brought in as I was in pain and hardly sleeping.)
2. Nurse call did not work. I had to go 'hunting' for a nurse on several occasions. Twice I had to wait more than 75 minutes in extreme pain, which left me on the floor next to my bed. I had to rely on other patients to find someone in the end. As achronic pain sufferer I need catch the flair up as soon as possible. The level of pain I was left in on many occasions, particularly these 2 was more excessive than it should have been or needed to be.
3. I was promised I would have a visit by the urology team who deal with me but alas they never turned up - thanks very much!!
4. It took 5 days for a CT scan.
5. I had to 'help', a particularly vulnerable patient in difficulty who kept trying to get out of bed, which looked very dangerous. He would have fallen out of bed if myself or other patients did not help (tried talking as well as having to help him back in to bed). This shouldn't have been left to patients, particularly in these difficult times, apart from that I was finding things difficult myself. This patient was left for a long time on occasion leaving him quite confused and he was also violent.(not their fault). I don't believe they should have been in this ward.
I do not normally feel the need to comment like this but this stay in hospital was difficult and upsetting.
I would have scored 5 for VERY POOR if it wasn't for certain staff tried under difficult circumstances.
