"Sudden illness"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Acute Medical Unit

(as a service user),

After a 10 mile walk ,I collapsed and was unconscious for a minute or two. An ambulance was called. I had quickly recovered consciousness by the time the ambulance arrived. After a discussion with the excellent ambulance crew I agreed to go to Edinburgh Royal for further tests. There I was reasonably quickly admitted to the Acute Medical Unit Staff with a diagnosis of Atrial Fibrillation. After monitoring and tests I was discharged with advice and medication the following day.

I would have to very strongly commend all the staff I saw - the ambulance crew, and especially the night and day shifts in the Acute Medical Unit, they were simply outstanding - great patience shown to patients and an enormously caring environment was created by all the staff. Teamwork amongst them was a case study in how it should be done. I was hugely impressed by my time there. Sincere thanks to everyone !

Dear Bccphobic

Thank you for taking the time to respond with such positive feedback. It sounds like it was scary time and I am really pleased your experience was a positive one.

I will make sure your feedback is shared with the Acute Medical Unit team and hope you are recovering well

Kind Regards

Simon
