"Lack of diagnostic Echo Cardiogram for inpatient"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Cardiology

(as a service user),

My husband has been an inpatient in Hairmyers hospital for 7 days. He has heart arrhythmia's of unknown origin, telemetry of the heart since admission and a variety of drug based treatments. Every Doctor that he has seen has stated that he requires an Echo cardiogram to assist the making of a diagnosis ,but yet here we are a week later with no Echo Cardiogram slot available. We have been told that this may get done as an outpatient as many others are requiring this test. Well I would suggest that given my husbands symptoms and the lack of a diagnosis this should put him on the priority list!

Dear Milly63

Thank you for contacting patient opinion and highlighting your concerns regarding your husband awaiting an echocardiogram. I am sorry to hear that your husband is unwell and requires further tests to aid a diagnosis. I would like to look into this further and therefore would appreciate it if you could contact the patient affairs team on 01355 585325.

I look forward to hearing from you

Thank you

Lise
