"My life on the edge"

It's been with the help of Change Grow Live that I am here today to tell my story.

People find it had to believe I suffer with severe anxiety and depression because I come across as a happy, bubbly person, but deep down inside tells a different story.

I was sexually abused as a child, but many years later the memory came back which nearly destroyed my life. Then when my Parents passed away, that combined with my past, I turned to drink which at the time was the only thing that eased the pain I was going though.

My relationship with alcohol become out of control, in fact it became my best friend. Then falling deeper into the addiction, I lost my job, nearly lost my Husband, Family and Friends. Drink to over my every existence 

After being taken to hospital with a suspected overdose, my story with Change Grow Live began.

Change Grow Live have changed my life around, with there dedication and support I started to become less dependent on  alcohol, my life started to change. Change Grow Live gave me all the tools I needed to function again and become a useful member of society again. After about approximately 4 years in recovery I now work as a volunteer (Peer Mentor) with Change Grow Live. I have seen first hand the dedication, empathy and the hard work the staff give to their Clients. The work they do with Alcohol, Drugs, just a few to mention is priceless. 

And even throughout the COVID-19 crisis, Change Grow Live have put the safety of their Clients and Staff as a priority at all times. They have endeared to every single suggested guidelines. I as a staff member I feel completely safe in the workplace.

With their help, support, encouragement and empathy I have started living again, enjoying life again, but the most importantly I have my Husband, Family and Friends back in my life. At the age of 66 years I am just starting to live again.
