My elderly Dad was admitted to Fortuneswell Ward directly from the haematology referral as he was a very poorly man in a great deal of pain, diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. Every single dr and nurse that we had contact with were absolutely terrific, kind, empathetic, knowledgeable, wonderfully supportive, compassionate and very understanding of Dad’s complex needs. Each time we talked to them they appeared to have all the time in the world for us. He stayed in for a week to get on top of the pain, we sadly all came to a decision to not treat but provide palliative care at home. He was at home for a week before being readmitted to Barnes Ward with pneumonia, by this point he had gotten much more confused with the dementia but he was still cared by the all the staff with compassion and extreme kindness. They worked so hard to get him home very quickly. Sadly within a month he passed away peacefully at home. I will never forget all the NHS staff that gave us all such an excellent service and were so supportive and friendly in our time of need. Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️
