"All in all the NHS is a blessing"

About: Lanarkshire Community Services / Community Nursing Service University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department University Hospital Wishaw / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

In my previous post I mentioned how the nurse's in wards 12,14 and 17 were very Caring and friendly and my experience in wishaw general as a patient with a broken hip.

After being home since July I have had time to reflect on my time there.

I realised that I only mentioned nurses but I should have said that the physiotherapy team Taylor and the other girls were brilliant in helping me to get mobile again with a Zimmer .

Since being discharged I have attended the fracture clinic twice and the x-ray department as well.

The doctors and nurses in the fracture clinic were very Caring and friendly.

In the x-ray department  the radiologist was fantastic when repositioning me for x-rays they were very gentle and caring I couldn't wish for better care.

The young lady who took orders for the meals in ward 17 was very efficient and friendly me being a diabetic she suggested variations on the menu to help me control my diabetes.

On being discharged I had to have patient transport as not able to put weight on the left leg. The crews were very helpful and friendly. I have used this service a few times and will again for next appointment at fracture clinic.

All the doctor's who attended to me from A&E and operating theatre plus orthopaedic care were very  professional and caring.

Last but not least is the care I receive at home from Elvira the occupational therapist and all the district nurses in the Hamilton area of South lanarkshire council.

All in all the NHS is a blessing for the sick in this country and should be appreciated more by everyone.

Dear Bill 1

Thank you very much for taking the time to writing to us to share your experience of NHS Lanarkshire services. I am sorry to hear that you broke your hip and hope you are continuing to recover well. It is good to hear that the service you received from the community teams after your discharge from hospital was so positive and I will ensure the Occupational Therapy Team are aware of your kind comments.

Kind regards

Dear Bill 1

Thanks so much for your lovely feedback. I will ensure I pass this onto the Physio team who will be delighted to hear how much you benefited from their input. Recovering from a broken hip can be challenging but with the right support that you have described I'm sure you will make a full recovery soon. It sounds like you are doing very well so keep up the good work.

Wishing you a speedy recovery

Claire
