In April this year my mother-in-law sadly passed away in Ward 3 at the Larkfield Unit, IRH. She was admitted to JN in October transferred to GN and very quickly to Ward 3 without a diagnosis. She had never been in hospital before, her condition rapidly deteriorated and it was the doctors in Ward 3 who after numerous investigations and months diagnosed her with Guillian Barre syndrome.
She was transferred to HDU for treatment and then back to Ward 3 for rehabilitation. The nurses and physiotherapists in ward 3 did an excellent job in caring for my mother-in-law, when we couldn't. Having a daughter and daughter-in-law as nurses we couldn't have asked for better care.
Unfortunately after 6 months she lost her battle and died in the care of staff at ward 3. I would like to give special thanks to Gaynor (physiotherapist) and her team. Nurses Michelle and June. My mother-in-law was a very special lady and it was a comfort that she did not suffer and was well looked after.
"Excellent nursing care"
