"Dreadful care on stroke ward"

About: Pilgrim Hospital / General medicine

(as a service user),

On the stroke ward. Told not to go to toilet unaided - I called and waited 2 hours! Atrocious!

Noisy at night - staff laughing and chatting

Cold ward with windows open. No blanket

Not given food - breakfast or lunch.

Needs sorting out. What sort of staff are these? There seemed to be a lot of agency staff being used.

Hello.

We’re sorry to hear about your stroke and that you feel you didn’t receive good care.

It seems that the hospital is going to look into your concerns but if you’re still unhappy, you could get in touch with the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS). PALS can help people to resolve health-related concerns and answer any questions they have about NHS care or treatment. You can call Pilgrim Hospital at on 01205 446243 or email them at pals@ulh.nhs.uk

Here at the Stroke Association, we’re here for anyone who’s been affected by stroke. Dear Frightened

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on the Care Opinion website.

I am saddened and disappointed to read the experience you had on the Stroke Unit at Pilgrim Hospital, Boston. This is far from the standard of care we expect and deliver within our unit.

I am keen to speak with you to discuss your experiences so we can learn from it, please could you contact me directly on Rebecca.stanham@ulh.nhs.uk or via the PALs team on pals@ulh.nhs.uk to arrange a convenient time to speak. If you should contact us via PALS can you please quote CO783582.

Kind regards

Rebecca Stanham
