"Awful experience"

About: Pendle Community Hospital

The care here was awful. Was told to expect intensive rehabilitation, and instead physio was 'aimed for' only 3 times per week, but frequently happened only once or less per week. Patients left sat in wheelchairs for hours at a time. Staff defensive when asked about their treatment plans for the patient. Patient depressed during stay (not usual) and severely sleep deprived due to excessive noise on ward at night and 5am starts most days. Staff organised discharge for Monday morning and decided that morning to delay as their clinical opinion changed causing patient a lot of distress and upset. Staff did not communicate effectively with patient's family with regards to this. Firmly believe that poor care here led to decompensation in patient, resulting in further poor health and mobility issues. Would never recommend, and feel it is a shame that this is all that is on offer in the East Lancs area for NHS patients.
