In the middle of lock down my autistic son had a wrist injury from playing on a trampoline. I took him to our local minor injuries at Launceston Hospital and they suggested it was a fracture which i was not surprised about, they did not have an xray machine on site that day so they said i had 3 options which where to drive to the city hospital 26miles for treatment/ x-ray, go to the next town 18miles where there xray machine was that day or because of my sons autism they could back slab it there and then and i bring him back in the morning when the machine would be there.
They suggested the last option as they no my son did not like new places and did not like things out of his routine which i fought was amazing of them. The wait was long because it was already 8pm and they said i could come up at 8am.
I decided to do this, so following morning i arrived and my son was seen straight away they x-ray lady was amazing explaining what was happening and even allowing him to see the images after. He had a green stick fracture. so we did have to go to the bigger hospital but they rang ahead for me.
The amazing care carried on right throughout and made my son feel at ease the whole time which as a parent is all i could ask for.
"Excellent care in Lock down"
