I attended the x-ray department (not listed here) for a routine annual repeat kidney ultrasound scan. Although my bladder was not to be scanned the appointment letter instructed me to drink 1lt of water an hour before the scan. The radiologist asked me to empty my bladder in order for him to carry out the scan, and told me that it had not been necessary for me to drink the water. I did not wish to visit the toilet during this pandemic, but the incorrect instructions contained in my letter made this necessary. How thoughtless and unprofessional of either the person preparing the letter or maybe of the clinician who arranged the appointment but did not give full details of whether water was necessary. They unnecessarily made me quite uncomfortable and also wasted a lot of the radiologist's time, while he waited for me.
Your survey questions are ambiguous and difficult to answer correctly. Which staff do you refer to? My experience of x-ray department staff was excellent. Of the administrative staff it was not. My above comments relate to the administrative staff who prepared my invitation letter; that letter stated that I might be seen by a man or woman. Is that what is meant by same sex?
