After 6 weeks of how to connect and disconnect a Hickman line under supervision by Lloyd's Nurses have had a detailed amount of training to be able to do these but, particularly as I reach the point of approval, I have received conflicting assessments that have resulted with failure to complete. Even the Clinical Trainer failed me on two issues that I've passed with another nurse.
I have discussed the issues with the sponsoring hospital who are paying the costs, Salford ward H8 who said one failure was irrelevant and the other way I did it was their working method but was not a significant issue either and should be signed off in both cases. My next will be to see if I can either get Lloyd's change their assessment or will raise a complaint with their problem procedure
