"The birth of my 2nd daughter"

About: Peterhead Community Hospital / Maternity

(as a parent/guardian),

I couldn't be more greatful for the midwifes at peterhead maturnety unit when I had my second daughter in june this year. I had a very long and traumatic birth with my first at Aberdeen back in 2017 which included having a third degree tear and not being able to breastfeed so I was very worried about it happening again but my experience this time couldn't of been further from that.

When I got there the atmosphere was so calm and relaxing. I was asked if I minded having a student midwife helping with the birth and of course I didn't and I'm so glad I didnt because I couldnt of asked for anyone better. She was amazing and so caring there is no way I could of done it without her, she was there for me from the moment she got there to the day I was signed over to the health visitor. She was born to be a midwife.

My partner was also very well looked after and kept topped up with biscuits and coffee. Once my little girl was here I got all the support I needed to breastfeed my daughter and after that if I needed them they were there day or night. Thanks to the the amazing staff I came away with another gorgeous girl and feeling so happy with how things went. I can't thank everyone at Peterhead enough for everything they did before, during and after the birth of my little girl.

Dear Mummabear1

Congratulations on the birth of your baby girl. Thank you so much for your lovely feedback about your experience at Peterhead Community Maternity Unit.

I will ensure your feedback is shared with the team who will be thrilled to receive it. So delighted you were supported with your birth and with feeding support afterwards.

It is brilliant to hear that you felt the CMU calm and relaxing and also the team took care of your partner.

Thank you for your comments about the student midwife who supported you.

Wishing you much happiness and many thanks again

Rachael MacDonald
