I called 111 on Thursday, August 13th at 6.40 pm. I explained to your advisor that I was bleeding profusely with pain when I went to pass water and I knew the appropriate medication since I had recently had the same problem, a bladder infection. My local Sainsbury's pharmacy was open until 9pm and ASDA pharmacy - nearby in Crawley - was open until 10 o'clock.
At 11pm a Doctor called to ask if anyone could collect my medicine. I said no because it was late to wake the neighbours and the chemists were closed. She suggested requesting an ambulance but I declined because I needed the medication.
She then suggested sending a prescription to my local chemist that I could collect in the morning. This was unhelpful since it meant me suffering all night and I could speak to my GP in the morning myself.
At around 12.45 pm another Doctor called to say that I could either collect the medicine from Haywards Heath hospital or pick it up when the Chemist was open.
I am disgusted with the service that I have received. I am a 73 year old woman with a history of high blood pressure and heart palpitations. I realise that 111 is busy but I explained my problem and the corrective medicine. What more do you need to know !
I suffered all night when a call within 2 hours would have solved the
problem.
