"hand eczema"

About: Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency Victoria Hospital / Dermatology

(as a service user),

a short set back To treatment I received  from dr mitchell dermatology ,victoria hospital kirkcaldy.

my hands had completely healed

dr phoned from cos lane surgery to  tell me to stop the zinc /ox itchammol and replace with vaseline and 50/50  as advised by dr daw ,ninewells hospital.

within hours my hands were yet again burning burst and bleeding.

had to go to A & E victoria   sunday 2nd August 2020  sent from there to the urgent care services.

dr Philips was shocked at how sore and swollen my hands were and within minutes she binned the   50/50 & vaseline , smothered my hands with the zinc /ox itchammol  and elocon ointment & gloves, have followed her treatment and I am glad to say my hands are silky smooth and pain free.  Today is the first day in three years  I   have been able to wear my wedding ring !!!

I regard Dr Phillips as a brilliant, caring doctor and I can,t thank her enough.

She has referred me on to dermatology kirkcaldy  instead of ninewells.

If this information can help anyone else with skin problems  then all the pain and suffering I have endured  will be well worth it.

Kind regards,

Dear Pat 11,

I am very sorry to hear that you had a further flare in your hand condition but I am extremely glad that this has come under control with Dr Philips care and advice. Chronic conditions can be extremely challenging to live with and it is extremely frustrating when they flare. Unfortunately with hand eczema this can often happen as we try to reduce the strength of the treatments or they come into contact with something that irritates them. I hope that we can continue to improve your situation when you attend our Dermatology clinic and that we can help find a long term solution for you.

Best wishes

Sally McCormack
