"The birth of our daughter"

About: Aberdeen Maternity Hospital / Obstetrics (Maternity care)

(as a service user),

I gave birth to our beautiful daughter in Aberdeen Maternity Hospital Midwife Unit. From the second my husband and I entered the unit we were supported and cared for excellently. Our desires and preferences were always put first and we felt that our experience was totally unique and catered for us. Despite the current restrictions and strains this must inevitably put on the staff, they showed no sign of it and were the perfect balance of professional and personal throughout our time in the unit. Sarah (midwife) and Sarah (student midwife) were the ideal team encouraging and supporting me through 12 hours of labour in the fabulous birthing pool. Followed by Gemma who brought our gorgeous girl into the world. We will never forget any of those precious moments they helped us to create.

Dear Constructive Observer,

Firstly let me congratulate you on the birth of your daughter and how grateful we are that you have taken the time to provide such lovely feedback.

Covid 19 has been exceptionally challenging for many aspects of the health service, including maternity services, where our mums have certainly felt the strain, however it is really reassuring to hear that you felt supported throughout and the care you received was person centred and professional. I will make sure this is shared with the staff involved.

Thank you again and may I wish you and your family all the best for the future.

Liz
