"Appalling service"

About: Mayflower Medical Group

My partner requested a muscle relaxant following a visit to an Osteopath. Firstly he spoke with someone from a different surgery who prescribed Diazepam without seeing him. His body swelled up so called 111 who prescribed Codeine also without seeing him and his body continued to swell and the pain got worse.

Finally I had to take him to A&E and after a 5 1/2 hour wait was admitted to a ward in Derriford with muscle breakdown. This has caused a high amount of protein in his kidneys and a clot on his liver and one in his leg. He has been in hospital since 30 July and still on a Saline drip.

Doctor surgeries and 111 Doctors need to start seeing patients before more people suffer or die due to lack of care in the NHS.

I am sorry on this occasion the organisation did not meet your expectations and you have had cause to raise this concern. We seek to learn lessons and implement any necessary changes in-practice to help reduce the likelihood of a similar concern being raised again.

Could you please contact the surgery directly by either email: d-ccg.mayflower@nhs.net or telephone: 01752 982200.

Thank you
