Just under a year ago I started undergoing treatment at the venesection clinic within the Day Medicine unit at Forth Valley Hospital in Larbert for haemochromatosis.
I find the staff to be very helpful and supportive and the venesection clinic at the hospital is well managed and efficiently run by Cath whom has kept me clearly updated and informed of my progress during treatment and has made living with haemochromatosis easier for me.
I feel relaxed when going for my treatment and I am regularly updated with my haemoglobin, ferritin and transferrin levels which helps me understand and progress with healing. My ferritin levels have dropped substantially since first attending my treatment a year ago thanks to Cath and the staff there.
I would urge Forth Valley Hospital to continue with the venesection clinic in the future as I am sure it has improved the ongoing recovery process for other patients as it has myself whom either suffer from haemochromatosis or polycythemia.
"Well looked after for my haemochromatosis"
