On Saturday 1st August 2020, I presented to the GP Out of Hours service at St John's Hospital, Livingston. After undergoing an initial assessment, I was transferred to the Surgical Assessment Unit at the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh for further tests.
Soon after arrival at the Royal, a CT-scan quickly identified the problem - an episode of appendicitis. By midnight I was whizzed into the operating theatre and keyhole surgery removed the offending piece of my anatomy!
I want to use Care Opinion to share my sincere thanks for the professionalism, attention, care and compassion I experienced during my journey. The nurses, doctors and HCSWs involved in my treatment managed to balance their professionalism with genuine care - and a sense of humour! Despite feeling ++ vulnerable, the whole procedure was made so much more bearable by their approach. Thank you nursing staff on duty at St John's OOO service and the Multi-Disciplinary Team who managed my care at The Royal Infirmary. I only wish I had your names to include in this feedback!
