I was recently taken into labour ward at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital to be induced after my waters had broken with no progress. I wanted to leave a comment to say about the amazing care my husband and myself received while there.
We had an absolutely amazing midwife called Bethany. She was so kind and friendly which really put my mind at ease about having to give birth haha. It turned out this was her first job post after qualifying as a midwife, I was absolutely shocked as she was so calm, confident and competent in her role. She listened to us, was very encouraging and always went through all my options, particularly surrounding pain relief which meant I never felt too uncomfortable for long. She really just did an excellent job in all departments and we want her to know what an amazing difference she made to our experience. I'm a nurse myself and definitely wasn't this good in my first job! Please let her know how great she is!
Everyone else we came into contact with was lovely also from the charge midwife, student midwives to doctors and anaesthetists. They all made giving birth during a pandemic easier than I was anticipating.
Just wanted to thank you all for the great job you do and thanks for helping us bring our son into the world in a lovely, calm and professional way!
