"Patient administration"

About: NHS Tayside

(as a relative),

The Colonoscopy dept service failed to take account t of my fathers numerous health problems because of a lack of “ whole patient” administration. Prep medication which should have been posted out did not arrive. When collected by me it did not contain an information leaflet it should have done. The information leaflet produced by NHS Tayside did not take account of early morning appointments and so contained inaccurate instructions on how to administer the pre procedure medication.

I feel that a vulnerable elderly ( 85 year old) sick man has been left extremely stressed by the whole experience and my opinion of the service is that it is shambolic and disjointed.

Staff are great but system is not.

Dear Susth,

I am sorry to hear of your father's experience.

It is clear that on this occasion the normal procedures were not followed correctly and I would like to apologise profusely for this.
This is not the normal person centred approach that we strive to meet as a department.

In order that we can look into this matter further and prevent a repeat of this for to her patients I would invite you to contact either myself or Lorraine Wood, Administration Manager via the Complaints and Feedback team: feedback.tayside@nhs.net
