"A stay in the hospital."

About: Royal Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as the patient),

First I would like to say when I went to A& E during Covid I was seen quickly and lots of tests including a CT was done on me. The care there was excellent. All the staff were very helpful. It was only when I was transferred to a different ward that things took a turn for the worse. I was and still am traumatised by a lot of things that happened to me during my stay. I honestly don’t think there is enough space to write it down. I was lucky that I was able to speak up for myself when others couldn’t.

Dear Survived,

My name is Barry Murtagh and I am the facilitator for Care Opinion within the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust.

Firstly, thank you for your feedback regarding your care in the Royal Victoria Hospital Accident and Emergency Department and subsequent transfer to ward.

It is an extremely anxious time for individuals who have to attend hospital and I really appreciate you taking the time to provide positive comments regarding your care in Accident and Emergency. I have passed your story on to the service manager in the department who will in turn feed this back to staff.

I would also like to give you the opportunity to contact me directly to get more detail regarding your care in the ward setting. I can then pass this on to the relevant staff. You can contact me at barry.murtagh@belfasttrust.hscni.net

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes,

Barry
