"My time on the Neonatal Unit"

About: Aberdeen Maternity Hospital / Neonatal Unit (Special Care Baby Unit)

(as a service user),

My daughter was born 7 weeks premature back in February this year. After an emergency C-Section, I had difficulty coping with that and with my daughter being in the Neonatal Unit. She spent two days in HDU and the remainder of her four weeks in the special nursery.

I want to say a big thank you to all the staff in there for their support and an extra big thank you to Kate (feeding nurse) for her support in getting me help from my doctor when I felt at my lowest. I seriously don't know how I would have coped if I didn't receive this support.

Thank you for the wonderful care and support you provided for not only my daughter but also for me and my husband.

Dear MrsC2020

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this feedback for the neonatal unit. Congratulations on the birth of your daughter and I hope all is going well and you are settling in to home life with a baby albeit in these difficult times.

Having a baby in a neonatal unit is such a stressful time for families, hence why we care for the whole family to enable you as a parent to care for your baby. I will ensure that the whole team receive your feedback and especially Kate, who, as you say, is a particular treasure.

Take care and enjoy your daughter, she must be reaching such a fun stage in her development.

Kind regards

Nicole.
