"Exceptional Person Centred Care"

About: Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre New Stobhill Hospital (Glasgow)

(as a relative),

Our mum was diagnosed with endometrial cancer in September 2019. She had surgery in November and commenced radiotherapy in January 2020, completing this early March just prior to Covid-19 lockdown. Our mum sadly passed away in July in the Beatson.

We wanted to highlight the exceptional care she had throughout her journey. The cancer pathway was faultless and timely with no delays. She received truly person centred care by her Consultants - Dr Hardie, Consultant Gynaecologist and Dr Graham, Consultant Clinical Oncologist. The approach and relationship they built with mum made her feel at ease, reassured and she trusted them which gave her such a positive outlook. Latterly Lisa, Deputy Charge Nurse Ward B5 at the Beatson showed great care and compassion towards our mum and particular thanks also to Maureen.

Although we don't have our mum now, the care shown throughout her journey has given us and my dad great comfort. My sister and I are proud to work in the NHS.
