"Glodwich Medical Centre"

About: Glodwick Medical Centre

(as a service user),

I attended Glodwick for an ultra-sound in the Medicare Dept. On my arrival I went to reception and even with the screens in place the reception staff were not wearing masks, (I found this quite shocking especially with Oldham currently under the spotlight for a lockdown).

I was called in for my appointment and was greeted by one gentleman wearing his mask whereas the other gentleman did not!

I then entered the sonography room and the lady in there was wearing her mask yet the sonographer was, BUT not correctly. They had the mask over their mouth but their nose was clearly visible. I did make a comment about how people, in general, are not wearing masks correctly... he did not pick up on my comment!

When I left my appointment I headed straight to the toilet, there weren't any sanitising stations and I was quite shocked, to be honest. I felt I needed to report my concerns about the sonographer to the reception but their attitude was not exactly proactive, instead, they directed me to another person who was unavailable.

When leaving I immediately went to use the hand pump on the wall but unfortunately, the unit was empty and I was unable to sanitise.

Given that we are in a global pandemic, health care is on the front line, and also under a HUGE microscope. My nerves were already on edge with my appointment being in Oldham and the attitude of the Glodwick staff were in my opinion not good enough.

The NHS is meant to be setting an example, and for the most part, they are doing amazing work. Why is Oldham failing on this front?
