About: The Lonsdale Medical Centre

My family and I have been patients at this practice for over 10 years. It has always been a bit of a factory - a different doctor every time trying to get you in and out as quickly as possible, but it has recently gotten bigger and even more impersonal. There is no regard for the patient experience. By way of example, the practice recently changed the appointment booking process without notifying patients. There are now even more online and telephone hoops to jump through in order to get to the first stage of a telephone consultation with a doctor. It feels like a battle to try and get decent care and when you need a doctor, that’s rarely a battle one has the energy to wage. I’ve tried to get in touch with the practice manager, but my emails and phone messages have been ignored.

Dear Patient

I'm sorry you have had a bad experience at the Practice. We have along with Practices across the country, adjusted our appointment system due to Covid and have texted our patients and updated pour website accordingly. I am happy to discuss your case individually if you would like to. My e mail is amanda.meehan3@nhs.net.

With local closures of walk in centres and secondary care services, we have seen a significant increase in our demand from patients. Im sorry if you have found this difficult.

We also have a permanent team of GPs so I am again sorry you have felt you have seen different doctors. We prioritise continuity of care for our most vulnerable and unwell patients with usual doctor and often we are unable to place patients on the day requests with usual doctors, due to working patterns and workload. Im sorry you feel this is unacceptable and we hope in the future we can improve our continuity of care better going forward.
