I attended the Community Midwifery Unit based within the RAH in Paisley to give birth to my first child. I was understandably nervous due to being a first time mum in addition to experiencing some fear around giving birth during the Covid 19 Pandemic.
I received excellent support from my allocated midwife (Emma) throughout my pregnancy and felt confident that the care I would receive in the CMU would be holistic and person centred. I was not disappointed, my husband and I had a lovely experience in the CMU and were given excellent support from all of the midwives we interacted with, especially Nicola and student midwife, Annie, who were both a huge support during the final stages of my labour. My birthing plan was implemented and I gave birth to my daughter in the early hours.
I experienced some complications after the birth which required surgery, the staff in the labour ward were excellent at putting me at ease and ensuring my husband and newly born daughter were looked after whilst I was away.
I am hugely appreciative of all staff who looked after me during my time spent in the maternity unit in the RAH.
