"Good Service From Medical Staff, Spoilt By…"

About: Lincoln County Hospital

I took my wife in today for her 11:30am Xray & she had a great service from the radiology team, but our impression of our visit was spoilt by the extremely poor treatment we received from reception, whose greeting was anything but friendly, so this review is about reception & not the radiology staff or department as a whole.

My wife has serious mobility issues & when a member of the radiology team called her for her appointment I mentioned it & the person who helped my wife to walk to the Xray room.

I then explained the position while I was still in reception & asked if I could wait until my wife returned as she wasn't able to be left to walk unaccompanied or she may well fall.

All I got was a "no you can't, you'll have to wait out there", with the exit door to the corridor being indicated.

When my wife had her Xray she was helped back to the waiting area by one of the staff who couldn't understand why I wasn't waiting for her in the waiting area.

For a hospital where people are emotionally vulnerable, this attitude is totally unacceptable.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your visit to Radiology. We are very pleased to hear that you had what you describe as a great service from the radiology team.

However, we are sorry that you felt disappointed with other aspects of the service. I am sure you appreciate the space we have within the department is limited with social distancing, but we do allow carers to accompany patients if they are required for direct assistance, or wait for their return following their x-ray.

We are sorry your experience wasn’t as we would expect, but thanks again for taking the time and trouble to contact us, and you can be assured that we will discuss this with that particular team. Equally, we will be pleased to share your comments relating to the ‘great service’ whilst undertaking your wife’s x-ray.

Thanks again for your valued feedback.

Regards
