"Blood tests department-staff members rude and…"

About: Queen Elizabeth I I Hospital (Welwyn Garden City)

I have been to the blood test department probably around 10 times over couple years due to my condition etc. I have to say probably half of the staff members there are nice and helpful. However, we had some really bad interaction with staff members especially the receptionists. They have been unhelpful and rude. One time after my difficult interaction with one lady receptionist, we witnessed another family being treated badly, who their son was ill, while the mom was completely reasonable. I also experienced unhelpful information that the receptionist provided to me, while they also made me feel like I or other patients should be blamed rather than their incompetency (either basic office software use or basic medical knowledge). Some nurses could be very rude, that I (well-educated professional woman) sometimes tried to have small conversations with them to make their day a bit easier, but had short and very inpatient answers.

I would suggest the hospital to retrain some of the staff members in phlebotomy department. Though this is not a department requires high level of medical skills, patients visit this department had various of worries, conditions, and concerns; therefore the basic skill sets like computer skills, communication skills are very important for patient care in this setting.
