I opted for a medical abortion at 7 weeks due to personal reasons. I was originally told on the phone that i was 10 weeks almost 11 so a surgical would be my only option. However, when arriving at the centre and had a scan i was only 7 weeks so opted for the medical as i thought it would be less invasive. The options werent really explained to me at this point but if they had been i would have chosen the surgical. The excruciating pain i went through was horrendous. In the booklet it states the pain can last from 4-6 hours. My did but the pain remained for almost a week after! So much so i thought a trip to a&e was needed. There is no aftercare whatsoever, they do not call you to see how you are or if everything went ok. Its a case of there are the tablets, take them and go home to rest!
There should be a clear understanding of what to expect if you choose the medical or surgical, everything should be explained to you in detail in order for you to make the right choice and as pain and stress free as possible
