"A consistent place of support"

About: Inclusion Visions Thurrock (Drug & Alcohol Recovery Service)

(as a service user),

I have recently completed the IRP course with Inclusion. Due to the COVID restrictions these took place online via video calls with Alex and Helen.

Having attended groups in-person with inclusions I was apprehensive at how helpful online group meetings would be. I’m happy to say I could not have been more wrong!

Alex and Helen were amazing at making everyone feel at ease and created what felt like a very safe, open and honest environment. Throughout the weeks, the course didn’t feel rigid and was like having a conversation. Alex and Helen kept us to topic by questioning certain view-points and asking for further clarification and I felt as though rather than give you the answers we all managed to come to them ourselves with their guidance. It has been so reassuring to have this Tuesday meeting during lockdown and I cannot thank Alex and Helen enough!

Inclusions as a whole has been a consistent place of support for me during lockdown and everyone has gone above and beyond to continue service as normal as humanly possible and this has been invaluable and is very, very appreciated!

Hi HW91

Thank you so much for your story, we are so appreciative of feedback regarding the changes in treatment during the Pandemic. I am delighted to hear that you found the virtual groups very helpful and I can understand your apprehension about how useful they might be. We shared your apprehension and are encouraged and heartened to see people finding them so helpful and supportive. Congratulations on completing IRP (Inclusion Recovery Programme)

It sounds as though you put a lot of work in to the IRP and used it as an opportunity to find your own answers.

I have passed on your comments to Helen and Alex and also the team. I am sure your words will inspire others to try the groups and also reassure others that treatment continues albeit in a different shape.

I wish you all the best and once again thank you for taking the time to share your inspiring story

Emer
