"a three day emergency admission"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Acute Short Stay Medicine Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Emergency Medicine

(as a service user),

I collapsed at home and was taken to hospital by ambulance. From A& E I was transferred to a medical triage ward and then to a short stay medical   ward, 103 in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. From the moment of entry into the Ambulance to discharge my experience was of kind professional and often friendly care in spotless surroundings. The staff were almost universally helpful and some went way beyond the bare minimum. A senior nurse specialist Thanasis Kandias stands out for his knowledge, efficiency and friendliness. I shall not forget it. The Greek consultant who admitted me Dr Despoina Papamichail set in motion a series of investigations which her Greek nursing colleague carried out. Although nothing adverse was discovered my faith in the NHS which was flagging was completely restored.   I was left profoundly grateful to those citizens of the EU who have chosen to make Scotland their home.
