"Broken Hip"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Cardiac Catherterisation University Hospital Hairmyres / Cardiology University Hospital Wishaw / Care of the Elderly (Wards 9-12) University Hospital Wishaw / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

Taken by ambulance to wishaw general after falling and breaking my hip.

After A&E was taken to ward 12 prepared for surgery and had heart attack on operating table and opperation was cancelled. next couple days in ward 12 before being transferred to ward 14 where i was very well looked after by Rachel, Marta and all the nurses . Unfortunately I can't remember all the name's wish I could name every one of them.

Last ward transferred to was 17 where very good care was given especially by Betty, Larissa, Kirsten, but really all the nurses are fantastic very caring and pleasant. Personally I think they are over worked and under paid and not appreciated enough. I was confined to bed for a month as after having heart attack was moved to Hairmyres to have stents inserted so have to wait till heart has recovered before hip operation can be considered again.

Hi Bill 1,

I am sorry that you have been unwell and required a stay in hospital. I’m glad that you are now recovering.

Thank you for taking the time to give such positive feedback. We aim to provide an excellent standard of patient centered care for all our patients and it is pleasing that this has been your experience. Positive feedback is very much appreciated and I will pass this onto the orthopaedic staff.

Good luck in your recovery

David

Hi Bill

Sorry to hear you have not been well recently. I am pleased to hear that the Nursing teams caring for you during your time of need were caring and pleasant. I will pass on your comments to the team as I am sure they will be delighted with the positive feedback and to know that you continue to recover at home.

I hope your recovery continues and that you can undergo your hip operation in the not too distant future.

Kindest Regards

Angela
