Being a health care practitioner myself (Midwife), I am fully aware of the necessity to cancel and postpone elective surgeries, for the safety of all involved. But with bariatric surgery, there is a considerable amount of care that goes on around the service.
The majority of us have given our all to get to the point of surgery and remain eligible. For some of us it has meant a very challenging time trying to lose a considerable amount of weight (not easy, or we wouldn't be having major surgery to facilitate us!). Since Covid, there has been absolutely no correspondence or support from this service at all. From the online support groups chat, no one is receiving ongoing anything. Most of us have put significant weight back on - as our other support services, such as slimming world and weight watchers have also been absent.
There really isn't any excuse for not reaching out occasionally to those close to surgery to provide some ongoing support and reassurance. As a group of individuals, we would like to know what happens now? Any kind of communication, written or otherwise would be helpful at this point please.
