"Absolutely appalling"

About: North Tyneside General Hospital / General medicine

(as a relative),

My father was on ward 23 and it was absolutely appalling, the care he got was terrible, very unhappy and unhelpful staff, I used to come away crying and I used to worry terribly until I saw him again the following evening. My family and I did had meetings with the ward nurse who promised us things would improve but nothing changed. It comes to something when staff on that ward keep telling you, if you don’t like it, get in touch with pals, absolutely shocking, any visitor should not be told that! ! It still breaks my heart when I think about him on that ward.

Dear Germiston,

I am sorry to read your review of care on ward 23. This is not how we would want any of our relatives to feel, and I appreciate you taking the time to share this information with us.

I would be very grateful to talk with you in more detail about your fathers experience of care with us. I would like to work with the team and learn all we can from your story. I understand that you may not want to post any additional details of your fathers care online. Therefore, please could you contact me at privately at Tracy.Bruce@nhct.nhs.uk with more information if you feel you would like to do so.

In the meantime I will share your review with the senior team on ward 23.

Thank you again,

Tracy
