"Very poor service"

About: Dewsbury & District Hospital

As a fellow professional I am appalled at the treatment and lack of concern given today.

My wife left feeling as she has been chastised for wasting time. This is not the case she only ended up at A&E because she was advised to go by the GP.

On discharge she was ignored by qualified staff when all that was needed was the canulae taking out, a student kindly did it.

I will be pointing this out to our GP because by implication his judgement has been questioned.

We try and avoid our local trust because over the years it has let us down so often, but then I suppose you can't expect anything else from a failing trust

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding you and your wife's recent experience.

I was upset to read that that your wife felt like she had been "chastised" for wasting staff time especially when she was advised by her GP to attend the service. I was equally disappointed to read that both you and your wife avoid coming into the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals Trust due to feeling let down. This is not the experience we would want for any of our patients/visitors and for this I am sincerely sorry.

I wondered if you would be happy to contact our PALS team (myh-tr.palsmidyorks@nhs.net / 01924 542972) so that they could look into your experience in more detail. However, I will share your feedback with the Matron of the service as it is important we learn from our patients/visitors experiences.

Thank you again for your feedback.

Kind regards

Clare Blackburn
