"Support from St Luke's Hospice for LAS"

About: St Lukes Hospice

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I wanted to give some feed back regarding an encounter with one of your staff tonight. I work for the London ambulance service and attended a gentleman who had passed away after a terminal illness. I was checking if they had been under St Luke’s Hospice and what the next step would be.

I spoke to Maeve. She told me that there was no record of my patient and it was soon apparent they were DNAR but not under a palliative team. This threw me and I wasn’t sure what to do. Maeve was amazing. Despite my patient not being affiliated with St Luke’s she kindly gave me advice on what steps to take next and contacted 111 to arrange for a GP to certify a death certificate.

From start to finish she was gentle and friendly and was acutely aware that I was in the presence of the patients family. Tonight she has helped me and the relatives of the patient greatly.  5 stars, A+ etc etc.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on the support you received from one of our member's of staff. It is great to read you were supported and, through yourselves, that the family of the deceased were then helped to. At St Luke's hospice we strive to provide good quality palliative care and after death support to all. By building and developing our relationships with LAS and other health care organisations we can aim to deliver upon this ambition.

Your lovely feedback has been passed on to Maeve.
